Top-Rated Laser Targets for Dry Fire Training

It’s abundantly evident to this USPSA shooter, from not only the overall quality of the product but also from the ease of setup and use, the variety of shooting simulations and the skills and techniques that can be measured with Shooter Make Ready, that a lot of time and effort from experienced shooters went into the design of the product. All shooters from all skill levels will find something they can improve by using this. In fact, someone who’s never shot will find it fun and challenging, and may get them involved in the sport. The first time I set it up my hand was sore because I just couldn’t put it down from trying to beat my own previous time. So yes, it’s addictive. I am unaware of any other product that is as safe, versatile and informative, let alone as much fun, to practice shooting as this one.

Shooter Make Ready has made dry fire fun! After going to a national training conference last spring, I was all excited to do more dry fire. However, I got bored quickly and stopped after a few sessions. I use Shooter Make Ready now almost every day with different courses of fire. I am just starting to shoot IDPA matches, so I have been working on speed drawing from concealment using the Steel Training course and the par timer. I set the par timer and see how many shots I can get on target after drawing from concealment. Unlike traditional dry fire, the SMR app shows how many shots were within the par time and if any were late.

Another fun exercise is to set up the targets around the basement and shoot Saturday Steel as I move around keeping the 180 degree line in mind. A couple friends who shoot come over and ‘play dry fire’ with me, and I plan to invite a group over for a dry fire party soon! Every person I have shown this to loves it. I look forward to seeing how this training helps my competition shooting going forward, but it’s also just fun to play around with, setting targets on my mantle and sitting on my couch engaging them while I watch TV! Shooter Make Ready really helps sharpen my shooting skills. I have found it to be a great practice tool that makes dry fire far more productive, and I especially like the real time feedback I get on my performance. It’s a transformative training experience. And it really is fun to use so I practice more each day.

The interface is very user friendly and tracking of performance is intuitive. The wide range of available courses of fire and ability to customize allows the user to tailor training to meet their needs. I particularly like the React course of fire which allows for work on target transition as you must react to the target cues. Overall I have been very pleased with the system and its functionality and think it is a very useful tool to improve anyone’s gun handling, target acquisition and general shooting skills.

Shooter Make Ready is a great tool to improve your shot accuracy, speed, trigger control and transitions without breaking the bank with actual ammo. It is extremely easy to set up, and you can practice just about anywhere. Varying COFs from Saturday Steel, USPSA targets, or just plain reaction targets keeps practice time fun. I really like the instant feedback while hitting targets with realistic “steel plate” sounds. Being able to review the last stage to see exactly where you hit the target and times for shots, mag changes and target transitions allows you to pinpoint what skills to work on.

My kids are constantly asking me to have a quick competition – they even like the SMR competitions much better than the “shooter” games they have on Xbox. I am much more comfortable taking them to the range after they’ve learned the safe way to handle guns with SMR.
